Head, Heart and Hands NZ is a home based art studio run by Raglan Visual artist, Gila Cohen. Gila offers a variety of one day art workshops where participants can learn new skills, get creative, and walk away with an artwork of their own making.
Handcut, multi colour screen printing
- Learn how to screen print fabric or paper using the immediate and simple hand-cut technique. Gila will take you through all the stages involved, from design, composition, and colour choice through to printing a t-shirt or fabric of your own choice
- All materials are included in cost, however, it is recommended that you bring your own light coloured cotton T–shirt to print on for best results
- $103 per person (Minimum 2 people)
Lino prints
- Lino prints are a fun and easy way to make beautiful artworks. Using Lino cutting tools, you will be guided through effective design, colour choice and safety
- You can either come with your own design in mind, or use one of Gila’s design books to copy a design or use for inspiration
- Final prints will be made on paper that can be framed or packed up for safe travel
- All materials are included in cost
- Morning and afternoon tea will be provided, but you will be required to bring your own lunch.
- $103 per person (Minimum 2 people)
Travel journal or sketch book
- Using the Japanese stab binding technique, Gila will guide you through making your very own travel journal or sketchbook using cartridge paper and a hard cover that you can cover with fabric or paint.
- All materials are included in cost.
- Morning and afternoon tea will be provided, but you will be required to bring your own lunch.

Details
All workshops are held at the head, heart and Hands studio, 4 Te Hutewai Road, Raglan West. The Studio is directly by the final stop on the Hamiton to Raglan bus line (Cnr Wainui Rd and Te Hutewai Rd) and run from 9am to 5pm.
Pick ups from the Raglan information centre can be arranged with prior notice.
Gila Cohen is a Raglan based visual artist and arts educator. Gila has been creating and facilitating art and textile workshops for children and adults for the last 20 years in NZ and Australia.
